Mika Karni

Mika Karni is an acclaimed Israeli singer, songwriter, composer and musician whose distinctive voice and uncompromising artistic approach have made her one of the notable figures in Israeli music over the past three decades.
 

A classically trained violinist from an early age, Karni studied at the Rimon School of Music, where she began writing and composing songs seriously and developed the artistic language that would define her career. Before launching her solo career, she worked as a violinist and backing vocalist with some of Israel’s leading musicians, most notably singer-songwriter Shlomo Artzi. Her work with Artzi brought her to the attention of a wider audience and established her as a versatile musician in her own right. 
 

In 1997, Karni released her self-titled debut album, produced by Guy Yaffe. The album introduced a fresh and highly personal voice to the Israeli music scene, combining sophisticated songwriting with elements of rock, pop and folk. Its standout single, “Mitchell,” became a major radio hit and remains one of the defining songs of her career. 
 

The success of her debut quickly established Karni as an important new songwriter and performer. In the years that followed, she continued to develop an increasingly individual sound while collaborating with leading figures in Israeli music, including Yoni Rechter and lyricist Eli Mohar. 

Her second album, “Sipur Amiti” (A True Story), was released in 2000, followed by “Olam Acher” (Another World) in 2001 and “Mi’rega Le’rega” (Moment by Moment) in 2002. These albums expanded her musical palette and produced a series of successful songs, further establishing her as a songwriter with a distinctive voice and a strong artistic identity. 
 

By the middle of the 2000s, Karni had already built a substantial body of work and a devoted audience. Her 2004 album “Migdalor” (Lighthouse) marked another important evolution in her sound, incorporating electronic influences alongside her characteristic songwriting. In 2006, she released “Pashut VeTov” (Simple and Good), continuing her exploration of electronic textures and contemporary production.
